Adequate leadership skills are fundamental in a world where ethical conduct and essential protocols are often overlooked. The need for strong and sound leadership is crucial, now more than ever. At FEBA South Africa we understand this need and would like to invite you to take part in this Leadership – Clarity Series, which consists of videos and supplementary training materials that you can use to develop, encourage and empower your own ministry or business team.
The real enemy is not evil, stupid, or apathetic people; rather, it’s fuzzy thinking on the part of good, vital, intelligent people, and their failure to lead (Robert Greenleaf).
Why yet another series on leadership, you ask? That’s a valid question; after all, it’s a topic already filling many miles of library and bookstore shelves, not to mention the infinite amount of Gigabytes worth of information available on the internet! Well, some say leadership is like beauty, easy to recognize yet hard to define! That’s the first reason. The plethora of theoretical approaches and definitions of leadership make it abundantly clear that there is still surprisingly little consensus about the core qualities of effective leadership! Additionally, very often theories of leadership are so far removed from practical organizational performance, that even leaders of failing and struggling companies can officially qualify as good leaders!
Another reason for this leadership series, is the absolutely fundamental importance of leadership for success in all spheres of life, secular or Christian. Jesus Christ confirmed this long ago when referring to some of the religious elites of his day: “Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” Robert Greenleaf wrote that the real enemy is not evil, stupid, or apathetic people; rather, it’s fuzzy thinking on the part of good, vital, intelligent people, and their failure to lead. So, if this Leadership-Clarity series can cure even a small amount of fuzzy thinking, it will be worth the effort. The quality of leadership, directly determines the quality of an organization. Ineffective leadership will ruin any organization, just as sure as effective leadership will make it thrive; so, leaders have the companies they deserve.
