20 NUWE GELOWIGES GEDOOP IN TSJAD

Skole is gesluit.

20 NEW BELIEVERS BAPTISED IN CHAD

For the past twenty years, Chad, the fifth largest country in Africa, has been torn apart by an ongoing civil war between the Middle East-orientated northern regions and the African southern areas. Economically it has been devastated by drought and famine only adding to its progressive destabilisation. Furthermore, the absence of effective government leadership and internal rivalry throughout the country has resulted in lawlessness and a climate of anarchy. More recently, in the days preceding the very controversial elections, the nation was riddled with demonstrations, civil unrest and rebel activities which are still ongoing.

The people of Chad are experiencing severe adversity. People live in fear, not knowing what is going to happen next. Soldiers are everywhere and most of the time, streets are blocked by the military. Political figures are being arrested on a daily basis and strikes take place in various public services. Schools are completely closed. People have lost all hope and are desperate for peace.

The radio is a source of light in the darkness for thousands of Chadians who say they have found peace, comfort and council from listening to our broadcasts. The programs are created by pastors who know and understand the individual needs of listeners, and are able to provide them with insight to improve their lives. Individuals are receiving healing, and are getting to know Jesus Christ on an intimate level. Just last month, 20 new believers, were baptised in a river nearby our station.

The team continues to press forward towards the goal of sharing the gospel with as many listeners as they can, despite the numerous challenges they face due to the instability that is shaking their nation.  They are always ready to meet their listeners’ needs, be it in the form of prayer, guidance or simply to answer their questions. Thousands of listeners have been connected with the local church and have grown tremendously in their faith.

The listener feedback reminds us of God’s faithfulness and the power of the Holy Spirit to touches people’s hearts;

“Pastor I beg you to show me the way to meet Jesus.”

“I am so happy to listen to your programs, that are a source of strength to me. I will continue to raise awareness among young people so that they can know God.”

“I was in pain, but then suddenly I got up. Thank God!”

“Thank you, Radio Shahada, I am lying in bed and I’m very sick, but your programs are doing me so much good.”

These are only a few messages, out of nearly a 1000 that our team receives every week. We continue to be amazed at the power a single radio station has to encourage, uplift and improve the lives of an entire city or country. It is only God that can work such wonders and we give Him all the glory for the transformative work He is doing through our ministry in Chad.
