A new harvest of believers in Malawi

Recently there has been an unprecedented amount of Yao Muslims who accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and they are being baptised. This is apparent in the active engagement of listener’s in more than 200 clubs across Malawi and their positive response towards the programs being broadcasted. Over the course of the month, the director of FEBA Malawi, Rev. Amos Siyabu Phiri and his team, baptised 56 new believers, most of which were former Muslims. According to Rev. Amos, more than ever before, the Yao people are eager to know about Jesus Christ and open to the gospel.

The production team at FEBA Malawi recently visited the Magomero Listener Club in Zomba. Most of the people in the club were Muslims. Despite this, most of them were willing and eager to listen to the Word of God being broadcasted. On this day, radios and audio boxes with various Bible teachings were distributed among the people of the village. The team also visited neighbouring villages of Mangochi, Balaka, Chingale, Namadzi and Mwanza where there are several active listener clubs. For most, in an underdeveloped country like Malawi, radio is the only source of information they have to grow in their faith.

In the months to come the team will continue to travel across the country to meet with the members of the various listener clubs, distributing radios and audio boxes, to ensure that the gospel is heard throughout Malawi. Since 2017 FEBA Malawi has received over 2300 listener responses – 76% are from the youth and 24% from adults – all desperate to know more about Jesus. In the words of a listener from Mwanza: “I sometimes feel like ending my life because of my problems, but when I hear your broadcasts, I don’t feel lonely anymore. You encourage me to keep going and to rely on the Lord.”
