“Faith comes from hearing the message,” writes Paul in Romans 10:17 (NIV), and many in Africa can only hear that message through radio. FEBA’s Christmas Radio Project aims to raise funds for radios and audio Bibles to carry the Good News to listeners throughout Chad, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Sudan, and Tanzania.
Malawi
FEBA Malawi’s ministry is growing at such a rapid pace that they cannot keep up with the demand for radios and audio Bibles. The team recently visited Yao listeners in the Zomba region, where they were grateful to see many Yao Muslims turning to Christ through FEBA’s broadcasts. On one occasion, about 60 Muslim men and women joined listener clubs in the hope of learning more about God. One listener shared: “We are all Muslims and having wind-up radios and audio Bibles will inspire us to receive Jesus Christ into our hearts and join His church as a result. Many of us cannot read and write, so listening to Litala FM will help us to learn who God is.”
So far, the team has established 70 listener clubs in the Zomba region alone. There are more than 19,000 listener clubs in Malawi today.
Mali
In Mali, the war has displaced millions of people and caused great poverty throughout the country. FEBA Mali’s station, KanuYah FM, broadcasts the Good News in the southwest of Mali, and the director recently shared this wonderful testimony: “The head of a Minyanka ethnic group of war refugees in our area said that every Sunday, the community have their church services through KanuYah FM, because they have no pastor. He added that the members of their community live in remote villages that can be easily reached by radio only, so the station is a blessing for them.”
This is especially encouraging, as the Minyanka people mainly practise animism! We praise God for the wonderful ways He touches hearts in the remotest parts of the world.
Mozambique
While many listeners listen to FEBA’s broadcasts in groups, many also tune in on their own, and God quietly works in their hearts until their eyes are opened and their lives transformed. A listener from Nicoadala, Mozambique, says: “Before, I often felt lost and overwhelmed by life’s challenges. However, after listening to the Word of God on Impact FM (FEBA Mozambique), I found a sense of peace and purpose that I never knew was possible. The teachings helped me to forgive those who hurt me and inspired me to reach out and help others in my community. The stories and scriptures shared during the program have become a source of strength for me. I now start my day with prayer and reflection, using what I’ve learned to guide my actions. I am grateful for the positive impact this station has had on my life and the community around me. It has truly been a blessing.”
FEBA Mozambique has six FM stations throughout the country, with a seventh one being built in Cuamba.
