There was a young Hmong man who dreamed of becoming a tour guide. As a step towards fulfilling this dream, he began learning English through YouTube, where he stumbled upon FEBA’s broadcasts and discovered the Good News in his native Hmong language. He contacted one of FEBA’s pastors, began a discipleship journey through FEBA’s Facebook ministry, and witnessed his sister-in-law’s miraculous healing.
Today, even though it is illegal to be Christian in Laos, this young man serves as a pastor, sharing the gospel with others in spite of persecution.
The year 2024 has been an exciting one for FEBA. All over the world, the ministry has seen great growth in the face of great challenges, and FEBA currently reaches a potential audience of 4 billion people every day! An estimated 17,777 radios and listening devices have been distributed to unreached people, as well as churches, who are eager to hear the Word of God. This miraculous growth prompts one to echo David in saying, “Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done …” (Ps. 40:5 NIV).
A Handful of the Highlights
FEBA’s Ethnic Ministries, through which the abovementioned young man discovered Christ, now broadcasts in 117 ethnic languages across Southeast Asia.
Thailand’s Christmas outreach, the Give with Love campaign, reached around 1.8 million people in 2023. As a result, donations were so numerous that the campaign was able to give Christmas gifts to some 30,000 underprivileged children, many of whom had never received a gift before. Furthermore, nearly 7,000 people gave their lives to Christ.
Thailand’s Bible Correspondence Course also grew, especially in prisons, from where they regularly receive testimonies like the following: “I have believed in God with all my heart and soul … Every Sunday, I join the worship group in the prison … I recite the Bible verses to remember and keep them in my heart, for I can apply them to my daily life actions and decisions.” FEBA offers similar courses in Malawi and Northeast Africa, and there are currently 11,358 students across these three fields.
In addition to the Bible course, FEBA Malawi has continued to employ the listener club model – where people gather to listen to Litala FM’s broadcasts as a group – to great effect, and the number of listener clubs in Malawi alone stand at nearly 20,000! FEBA Malawi’s team travelled to Tanzania to establish listener clubs among the Yao Muslims there. FEBA’s ministry also expanded to Niger and a door opened to Sudan, where the groundwork is being done to establish a station that will share the Good News with about 100 unreached tribes in the Nuba Mountains for the first time.
Even the Chinese Ministries, who had to contend with daunting challenges this past year, have much fruit to show for their labour: more than 816,000 hours of online broadcasts streamed by listeners in Hong Kong and China, and more than 335,000 mobile app users connecting with the FEBA Chinese Ministries team to learn more about Christ.
“[Were] I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare,” David continues in Psalm 40, and though it is indeed impossible ever to do God’s love and grace full justice, FEBA will continue to speak and tell of them, until all have heard.
